Case studies
The following projects include a snippet of information with UX and design challenges involved with each. Plus, you'll find visuals, wire frames, sketches, and more.
Hotwire.com icons
Request: Update and modernize the current clipart icons for Hotwire.com
Result: Designed icons unique to the brand. Note the use of circles and semicircles as to create consistency between family members and the logo itself.

AOL and Nextag partnership website
Request: Design SEO landing pages with branding from two different companies (AOL used Nextag's SEO pages to drive traffic to their website).
Result: Reaching out to the AOL team team I quickly found out was doable, and not and from their had their team involved often in the design process to avoid any surprises which would set the project back. In the end both partners were happy with the designs, and the page performed well too.

Nextag website
Request: Redesign Nextag.com website with all-new branding.
Result: Taking all the analytics from the previous site, I was able to design much improved streamlined pages users would have an easier time engaging with. Unfortunately shortly after the company took a turn for the worse — due SEO issues outside our control.

Adobe marketing awards
Request: The marketing team was looking to create tangible awards made from acrylic representing five categories — I volunteered to design them.
Result: The first round of designs were approved and the awards were handed out soon after in the new marketing all hands presentation of over a 100 people.

Travel-Ticker (Hotwire.com partner) emails
Request: Provide three completely different email layouts to test
Result: While stakeholders were keen to add as many offerings as possible, my hypothesis was providing less with a focus on why the email was being sent — it's an "alert" — would be better. The 3rd layout outperformed the others, with less offerings putting and focus on driving traffic to the website where conversion was higher.

William Hill winery (E. & J. Gallo) website
Request: Bring work in-house and update design done by outside agency
Result: Working in tandem with the in-house development team (the same one who developed the agency's work) and listening to their challenges with the current site the layouts were redesigned not just with customer needs in mind, but also feasibility with the limited resources available. The end result was a design multiple teams were happy with because not only was the design improved but vastly simplified for quicker development turnaround.

André Champagne (E. & J. Gallo) website
Request: Redesign website
Result: Working closely with a team of designers we first looked at the audience who are typically younger and highly engaged with social media. Our concept was to leverage ideas based on customers' posts to enhance the site and it was a successful hit.

Appliance Shopping (sub-brand) Nextag.com brand exploration
Request: Conceptualize branding for all-new brand named Appliance Shopping
Result: Three concepts were produced, each with a different approach including one conservative, another modernized, and one out in left field. The conservative concept was the expected version, but by adding a concept that's out in left field the "middle" concept which pushes the envelope to a degree has a better chance against a conservative concept. The modernized concept beat out the others and we rolled it out on the new website. The square made up of numerous rectangles eluded to "variety" with regards to our product.

Ford Motor Company illustration
Request: Ford was looking for artwork to accompany an online tutorial (which I also worked on) for warehouse managers.
Result: Along with a "character" I put together this pixel art of a Ford Thunderbird.
